Commemorative plate
This commemorative plate, produced in 1997, marked the 450th anniversary of the setting up of
the original school in 1547. The drawing, by Jenny Hinchliffe, shows the library and schoolhouse; around the circumference are reminders of the school's long history including a group of early rugby players, the 'Big', the old chemistry labs, the Charter, the ODH, King James I and the ancient school desk.
